"Hold fast to the Rod of Iron"

"And they said unto me, What meaneth the rod of iron which our father saw, that led to the tree?"
"And I said unto them, that it was the word of God; and whoso would hearken unto the word of God, and would hold fast unto it, they would never perish;"
"Neither could the temptations and the fiery darts of the adversary, overpower them unto blindness, to lead them away to destruction."
"Wherefore, I, Nephi, did exhort them to give heed unto the word of the Lord;"
"Yea, I did exhort them with all the energies of my soul, and with all the faculty which I possessed, that they would give heed to the word of God, and remember to keep his commandments always, in all things."
I Nephi 4:38-42

The Zion's Warriors are currently meeting the 2nd and 4th Sunday afternoons from 4:00-6:00pm. Our up coming events include Bowling, a parents search at Independence center (this is where various parents disguise themselves and walk around the center and the youth have to find them), Fund raiser to bring Jana over for Mammoth camp.

In February the Zion’s warriors had a very good month. On the 13th we had Shirley Reid come and share with the youth on Dating and relationships. She shared testimonies and experiences of her and Russ’s 50+ years of marriage. We had 16 present and it was neat hearing and discussing what God’s desires were for us and finding our life long companions.

Then on the 26th we met at the church to go visiting some of the Elderly of the branch. There were 13 youth and only me as an adult. The kids said they wanted to split up into 2 groups so we could visit twice as many people. So after a short class and discussion 7 of the older ones went to Bill and Julie Cargil’s and then went to Ron Basquette’s. I took the other 6 and we visited Pearl Overholt and The Hawkins’s. after we were done we met back up at the church and shared our experiences and had snacks.

March 13th the youth were in charge of the evening service at the church. They decided to put on an inside campfire. Brianne Mundy and Nicole Hahn led and organized this. They recruited the help of Colin and Sariah Maday for special Music and Also Elder Chris Pederson as a guest speaker. On top of this various other of the youth shared in prayers, scriptures as well as testimonies and ended with the youth group Singing a special song. There were 52 present and surely everyone was blessed with the spirit of our Lord. After the campfire the youth made Smores for everyone. (it wouldn’t be much of a campfire with out Smores)

I have seen tremendous growth in the youth over the past year and looking forward to the future.
